On March 2nd, 2011 I embarked on a journey of sorts. I hugged my parents goodbye, drove to Nashville, then to Oklahoma City, then to Albuquerque, then to Flagstaff, then to the Grand Canyon before finally arriving in my new home of Huntington Beach, California. Once there, I spent about 3 weeks crashing on a friend’s couch, planning the summer of a lifetime, site seeing, learning how to play beach volleyball, and getting sun-burned like crazy.
My 6 months in California were life-changing, fruit-producing and joy-bringing. It’s hard to believe it has been a year since I left (and then came back.) It really makes me appreciate how quickly a year can pass. I miss the extremely unique feeling of living in one of the most densely populated places in the world, and yet knowing no more than 15-20 people. That was such a full time in life.
